Robyn Mary Tunk, 20, of Somonauk, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 10, 2023 at home, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Robyn was born August 10, 2002 in Winfield.

Robyn graduated from Somonauk High School in the class of 2020 where she was captain of the Dance Team and active in the FFA. After she graduated, she attended Illinois State University where she started her degree in Special Education. Robyn enjoyed being outdoors, had a passion for dancing and could shop all day long while enjoying her Starbucks.

Robyn is survived by her mother Angela (Issac) Jones; her father Daniel (Brandy) Tunk; brother Dylan Jones; sister Samantha Tunk; grandparents Beatrice and Douglas Bicking, Peg and Bill Simpson, Gail and Steve Castle, Randy and Angela Jones, Rick and Tina Wehrman; 2 great grandmothers Marian Bicking and Mary Jo Ziegler and so many aunts, uncles and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her grandfather Walter Tunk, great grandparents Charles and Marie Prinzi, Carl Bicking, Donna Wehrman and aunt Katie Jones.

A Celebration of Life for Robyn will be held on Friday, March 24, 2023 from 3:00 p.m. until the time of service at 5:00 p.m. at the Merritt Funeral Home, Mendota.  The service is being officiated by Pastor Brenda Finn.

There is a dinner immediately after the service at the Mendota Moose Lodge, 211 E. 12th St. Mendota, IL.

A memorial is being established for local special education program.
