Ronald L. Wagner, 69, of Compton died March 14, 2009, in Heritage Manor Nursing Home, Mendota. Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Merritt Funeral Home, Mendota. Burial will be at Melugin Cemetery, Brooklyn Township. Visitation is 5-7 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home. Mr. Wagner was born Sept.30, 1939, in Polo to Glen and Loreta (Hubbard) Wagner. He married Judy Huggins on June 15, 1958, in Rock Falls. He was a graduate of Rock Falls High School. He was employed by Del Monte in Rochelle for 30 years and a member of Compton Fire Department for 39 years. He also served on Compton Village Board and was a member of Compton Community Club. He is survived by his wife, Judy of Compton; one daughter, Sherry (Chris) Reynolds of Franklin Grove; two sons, Danny Wagner of Compton and Tony (Debra) Wagner of Mendota; eight grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; four great-grandchildren; five stepgreatgrandchildren; three brothers, Marvin (Mary) Wagner of Rochelle, Leo (Margaret) Wagner of Rockford and Harold (Mary Jo) Wagner of Rock Falls; and three sisters, Doris Todhunter of Nelson, Judy Ray (Leo) Lewis of Rock Falls and Nelda May "Jucy" (Rick) Burge of Rock Falls. He was preceded in death by his parents, one grandson, three sisters and two brothers. Memorials may be directed to the family.
