Ross "Butch" George Worsley Jr, 78, formerly of Mendota, passed away Saturday, July 4, 2026, at Allure of Mendota. He was born July 24, 1947, in Mendota, the son of Ross George and Ruth (nee Tomlin) Worsley Sr. He married his wife, Linda, on April 16, 1999.
Butch proudly served his country in the Navy during Vietnam, where he was awarded two purple hearts and a naval medal of achievement. After returning from the war, Butch volunteered as a fireman in Mendota. He worked for 20 years for Caterpillar and another 25 years as a corrections officer for the State of Illinois. Upon retirement, Butch spent 17 years in Arizona. He loved fishing, golfing, and was an expert pigeon shooter.
Butch is survived by his wife, Linda; two children, Tammy (Terry) Buckley and Eric (Marilyn) Worsley; four grandchildren, Eric Worsley Jr., Rohan (Michael) Maythe, Keegan (Lyndzee "Fred") Buckley, and Kole Buckley; two step-children, Lisa (Bill) Markut and Amy Zaccagnini; four step-grandchildren, Zack, Beau, Jake, and Aryck; sister, Lorraine Manning; and a brother, Ed (Sue) Olsen; a sister-in-law, Charlotte Caputo along with many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Butch is preceded in death by five siblings, Raymond, Duane, Douglas, James, and Linda.
Cremation care has been provided by the Horner-Merritt Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, July 24, 2026, at Dewey Worsley Cemetery in Triumph.
