Ruth H. Doenier, 96, of Mendota died July 13, 2008, in Mendota Community Hospital. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday in Zion United Methodist Church, Mendota, with the Rev. Gale Brandner officiating. Burial will be at Restland Cemetery, Mendota. Visitation is one hour prior to services Friday at the church. Arrangements were provided by Merritt Funeral Home, Mendota. She was born Aug. 13, 1911, in Appleton, Wis., to Walter and Harriett (Sorenson) Lembke. She married Lloyd Doenier on June 5, 1936, in Milwaukee, Wis. She was a member of Zion United Methodist Church. She received her bachelor of arts degree from North Central College in 1933 and received additional credits from Milwaukee State Teachers College and the University of Illinois. She was employed by Mendota High School in 1943 as a sophomore English and advanced journalism teacher. She later took the position of librarian until her retirement in 1972. She is survived by four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one sister, Mae Meldgaard of Racine, Wis.; and one sonin- law, Bill Brown of Eden Prairie, Minn., formerly of Mendota. She was preceded in death by her husband in December 1978; one daughter, Karen; and one brother. Memorials may be directed to Zion United Methodist Church or Sauk Valley Humane Society.
