Obituary

Ruth Elaine Clara Geuther, 92, of LaMoille, passed away peacefully, August 31, 2022, at Stonecroft Assisted Living, Mendota.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday,  September 7, 2022 at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church of Clarion with the Rev.  Ian Griffith officiating. Burial will be in Clarion Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4-7 p.m. in Merritt Funeral Home, Mendota.
Ruth was born in Lee County on a farm to Gust and Malinda (Grosch) Bauer on Jan. 28, 1930. She attended Bartlett School, 80 rods south until it closed, then went to Sublette Public School 7 th and 8 th Grade. She attended Mendota High School graduating in 1947.
She married the "love of her life" Lyle Geuther, August 18, 1948, at Zion Lutheran Church.
For  2 ½  years they lived on a farm south of Sublette, then they moved to the Hill Farm on Old Chicago Road in Bureau County in 1951.
She  was a lifelong member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church of Clarion, where she was baptized, confirmed and married. She taught Sunday School, was a choir member, Ladies Aid, and Sarah Circle member. She volunteered at Mendota Community Hospital and later OSF Saint Paul Medical Center for over 25 years. She was on the Mendota Lutheran Home Auxiliary board for over 10 years. She worked for Franks Poultry House for 25 years, where she made many life long friends. She delivered Meals on Wheels those years with the help of Amy and Cajun Ron. She was a member of the Lee County Home Bureau and 4-H Leader.
After moving to Bureau County, she belonged to Clarion Home Extension over 50 years. She volunteered for the Red Cross .
She is survived by her four children, Mark (Nora) Geuther, Amy (Ron) McFarlain and Brad (Debra) Geuther all of LaMoille, and Melody Sheahan of Heber City, Utah; 10 grandchildren, Troy (Christy) Geuther of Brentwood, Tennessee, Chad (Allison) Geuther of Amboy, Lance (Becky) Geuther of Ofallan, Missouri, Jarod (Megan) Sheahan, Derek (Rene) Sheahan, Sarah (Jason) Rambo all of California, Tyler (Staci) Martin of Ortonville, Michigan, Brianna Blanton of Aurora, Jade Geuther of Kentucky and Nigel (Neftali) Lizarraga of Arizona; 9 great grandchildren, Elise, Weston Lyle, Cadence and Amelia Geuther,  Bryce Martin, Benjamin Sheahan, Omni, Oakley and Ozzie Lizarraga and two sister in laws, Evelyn Beardin of West Brooklyn and May Geuther of Mendota..
She was was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Norman Bauer, one sister Bernadine Kessel and one son-in-law, Phillip Sheahan.
Memorials may be directed to Zion Lutheran Church Cemetery or the family to support her charities.
