Ruth Guilfoyle, 92, of Lexington Healthcare in Wheeling, formerly of Mendota, died Oct. 17, 2007, in Lexington Healthcare. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in First Presbyterian Church, Mendota, with the Rev. Dale Dykstra officiating. Burial will be at Restland Cemetery, Mendota. There will be no visitation. Merritt Funeral Home provided the arrangements. She was born Jan. 15, 1915, in Mendota to Fred and Bae (Price) Kohl. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church for more than 80 years where she served as a deacon, elder and treasurer. She was a graduate of Mendota High School and Mundelein College after which she taught in a one-room schoolhouse. She was later employed by the former Wayside Press in Mendota before her retirement. She is survived by a daughter, Martha (Jim) Messer of Prospect Heights; one son, Terry (Nancy) Guilfoyle of Chicago; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one niece and one nephew. She was preceded in death by two sisters. Memorials may be directed to First Presbyterian Church, Mendota.
