Ruth L. Stevenson, 90, of Mendota passed away October 23, 2019 at Alden Debes Rehabilitation and Health Care Center, Rockford.

Funeral services will be Monday at 11:30 a.m. at the Merritt Funeral Home, Mendota with Rev. Susan Presley officiating. Burial will be at Waltham Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 10:00-11:30 a.m. in the funeral home.

Ruth was born April 21, 1929 in Troy Grove to Lester and Lucy (Miller) McLaughlin. She married Warren G. Stevenson on July 10, 1948, in Troy Grove.

Ruth was a 1947 graduate of Mendota High School. She and her husband farmed in Wisconsin and Illinois for over 20 years before returning to Mendota in 1994 to retire.

Ruth is survived by two sons, Richard (Sue) Stevenson of Salem, WI. and David (Lois) Stevenson of Zumbro Falls, MN; two daughters Jill Hendry of Naples, FL. and Ronda Cowgill of Dayton, OH; 11 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; sister Mildred Melau; brother Lauren "Bud" McLaughlin and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband in 2013, her son Dale, a son in infancy, a grandson James Sexton, one sister and two brothers.

Memorials may be directed Mendota Area Senior Services or St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
