Sarah Beth Cocanour Dalton, 34, of Mendota passed away
April 12, 2013, from injuries she received in a car accident
near Winona, Minn.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in First United
Methodist Church, Mendota, with the Rev. Michael Morrell officiating.
Burial will be at Lutheran Cemetery, Mendota.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Tuesday in the church. Arrangements
were provided by Merritt Funeral Home, Mendota.
Sarah was born Jan. 6, 1979, in St.
Albans, Vt., to Jim and Darla (Stone)
Cocanour.
In 1996, Sarah was chosen the 1996
Mendota High School Homecoming Queen
and also represented the Tri-County Fair
as queen in 1998. Sarah enjoyed playing
softball, attending concerts and plays,
hanging out with her friends, reading, cats
and spending time with her children. She
was a music lover.
As a lifelong member of First United
Methodist Church of Mendota, she served
as a youth leader and taught Bible school.
People knew her in the Mendota community
as a frequent volunteer, a smiling face and valued
employee at Goslin's Drug Store for 18 years. People were
drawn to Sarah because of her warmth, positive attitude, sense
of humor and infectious laughter.
Sarah was a devoted and loving mother to her two daughters.
She had a kind heart and was always willing to help
others. Loved and adored by many, Sarah was devoted to her
family and friends.
She is survived by her two daughters, Lauren and Madelyne
of Mendota; her parents of Mendota, three brothers, Wesley
(Maricia) of La Salle, Douglas of Los Angeles, Calif.; and
Tyler of Mendota; her maternal grandmother, Sarah Stone of
French Lick, Ind.; her paternal grandmother, Helen Cocanour
of Newark, Ohio; numerous aunts and uncles, cousins, and her
three nieces.
She was preceded in death by her maternal and paternal
grandfathers.
