Obituary
Sarah Lynne Fassig, 44, of Springfield died June 22, 2019 at Aperion Care, Spring Valley.
Funeral services will be Thursday at 11:00 a.m. in the Merritt Funeral Home, Mendota with Rev. Dana Coyle of Freedom Lutheran Church, Ottawa officiating. Burial will be at Restland Cemetery, Mendota. Visitation will be Thursday from 9:00-11:00 a.m. in the funeral home.
Sarah was born May 15, 1975 in Mendota to Norman and Joyce (Hopkins) Fassig.
She was raised on the family farm and went to Mendota Schools graduating in 1993. She studied drama at Illinois State University, Normal and Academy of Dramatic Arts, Los Angeles and continued her studies in drama at Southern Illinois University, Carbondale. She received her associate degree from Sauk Valley Community College and received her Bachelor of Arts degree from University of Illinois, Springfield. Sarah worked with ABC AmeriCorps, Sauk Valley Community College.
Survivors include her parents of Mendota; siblings Tamera (Glen) Fagerman of Mendota, Michael (Tony Klein) Fassig of Sublette and Matthew Fassig of Sterling; two nephews Conrad (Katie) Fassig of Lincoln and Erik Fagerman of Naplate; two nieces Kristen Fagerman of Mendota and Erin (Kevin) Schmidt and their daughter Mayzie Lorraine and his son Bradley of Sublette; and her friend Rosario Madrigal and her daughter Inoencia of Spring Valley.
She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents Dr. Homer and Doris (Merrifield) Hopkins and paternal grandparents Milton and Marjorie (Bieser) Fassig all of Mendota.
Memorials may be directed to American Cancer Association or ABC AmeriCorps at Sauk Valley College.
Pallbearers will be Glen Fagerman, Kevin Schmidt, Kristen Fagerman, Erin Schmidt, Erik Fagerman and Conrad Fassig.
