Shelly J. Joerger, 49, of 1712 Peri Drive, Mendota died March 9, 2008, in her residence. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in Holy Cross Church, Mendota, with the Rev. Fredi Gomez Torres officiating. Burial will be at Holy Cross Cemetery, Mendota. Visitation will be 3-8 p.m. Wednesday in Merritt Funeral Home. She was born Dec. 15, 1958, in Mendota to James A. and Joan (Sonntag) Eichorn. She married Mark Joerger on Aug. 17, 1985, in Holy Cross Church. Mrs. Joerger was a member of Holy Cross Church, the church choir and Holy Cross Parents Club. A 1977 graduate of Mendota High School, she received her bachelor of science degree from Northern Illinois University in 1981 and her master?s degree in 1985, also from NIU. She was a special education teacher at Mendota High School since 1981. She coached girls youth softball in Mendota. She is survived by her husband; two daughters, Autumn and Ciara, both at home; one son, Kyler, at home; her mother, Joan Eichorn of Mendota; one sister, Marcy (David) Mammen of Mendota; two nephews; and several aunts and cousins. She was preceded in death by her father and her maternal and paternal grandparents. Memorials may be directed to Holy Cross School or Kick Cancer Krewe.
