Shirley McDougall, 81, of Mendota died May 18, 2011, in her residence. Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday in St. John's Lutheran Church, Mendota, with the Rev. Dale Peterson officiating. Burial will be at Lutheran Cemetery, Mendota. Visitation is 2-4 p.m. Sunday at Merritt Funeral Home, Mendota. She was born July 11, 1929, in Chicago to Carl and Alma (Andersson) Englund. She married Irvin McDougall on Oct. 2, 1948, in Edison Park. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church and was a Sunday school teacher. She also served as an election judge and was a member and past president of the state VFW Ladies Auxiliary. She was a leader for Girl Scouts and Camp Fire Girls. She is survived by two sons, Patrick McDougall of Carpentersville and James (Jane) McDougall of Sycamore; two daughters, Nancy (Todd) Holland of Mendota and Linda (Roy) Quintanilla of Barlett; 12 grandchildren; and four great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband on Jan. 19, 2011, and one sister. Memorials may be directed to St. John's Lutheran Church, Mendota VFW Ladies Auxiliary or the Mendota Community Hospital Auxiliary.
