Stephen G. Bulfer, 61, of Mendota died Dec. 23, 2011, in Mendota Community Hospital. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in Holy Cross Church, Mendota. The Rev. Gary Blake will officiate. Burial will be at Holy Cross Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Tuesday in Merritt Funeral Home, Mendota. Mr. Bulfer was born Oct. 7, 1950, in Amboy to Gilbert "Dick" and Mary Rita (Fitzgerald) Bulfer. He married Karen Halbmaier on Aug. 30, 1985. He was a graduate of Amboy High School. He was a truck driver for 38 years. He was an avid Chicago Bears fan and liked to collect John Deere tractors. He was a loving husband, father, brother and grandfather. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Brittany Bulfer of Marion and Briana Bulfer of Mendota; four sons, Tony Bulfer, Timothy Bulfer and Thomas (Heidi) Bulfer, all of Salt Lake City, Utah, and Kyle Bulfer of Wheaton; eight grandchildren; and two brothers, Paul (Pam) Bulfer of St. Peters, Mo., and Jay (Vicky) Bulfer of Amboy. He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Terry; and two brothers, Tim and Tom. Memorials may be directed to his wife.
