Steven B. Bowne, 53, of Normal, formerly of Mendota, died April 12, 2008, in his Normal residence. Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Merritt Funeral Home, Mendota, with the Rev. Maryann Meador officiating. Burial will be at Restland Cemetery, Mendota, following cremation rites. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home. Mr. Bowne was born Oct. 19, 1954, in Princeton to Thomas and Phyllis (Parsons) Bowne. He married Sharoldine ?Sherry? Callahan on Aug. 23, 1975, in Troy Grove. He was a 1972 graduate of Mendota High School, attended Illinois Valley Community College and became a member of Local Operating Engineers 150 in 1973. He owned Century 21 Real Estate in Mendota from 1986-2006 when he moved to Normal and was associated with Prudential Snyder Real Estate in Bloomington. He was a member and past president of Illini Valley Association of Realtors. He was a member of Mendota Area Chamber of Commerce and served as mayor of Mendota from 1997-2001. He is survived by his wife; one son, Benjamin (Valerie) Bowne of Hudson; one daughter, Amy (Cesar Santoy) Bowne of Berwyn; three grandchildren; his parents, Thomas and Phyllis Bowne of Mendota; two brothers, John (Sheryl) Bowne of Mendota and David Bowne of Arizona; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents. Memorials may be directed to American Cancer Society, Community Cancer of Normal and Siteman Cancer Center of St. Louis, Mo.
