Obituary
Suzanne B. Smith, 90 of Sandwich passed away April 3, 2019 at Mendota Lutheran Home.
A private ceremony will be held at a later date in her hometown. Merritt Funeral Home, Mendota assisted the family.
Born November 5, 1928 in Beverly, MA. to George and Abbie (Crombie) Bowles and raised in Beverly, Suzanne maintained a lifelong love of the Cape and the outdoors. She graduated from Beverly High School in 1946 with an interest in drama and glee club. She moved to the Midwest and graduated from Baptist Missionary Training School with a bachelor of arts degree. After an 18 year marriage and three children, Suzanne went back to school and received another bachelor of arts degree in teaching at Aurora College in 1976. She continued teaching and eventually moved into the medical transcription field where she retired from Sherman Hospital in Elgin. In her spare time Suzanne enjoyed visiting with family, traveling back to the east coast, and always had a crossword puzzle at hand.
She is survived by her three children Neil (Sue) Smith, Lori (Dave) Kennel and Cara Smith and her grandson Hayden Smith.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister Virginia and two brothers John and David.
