Obituary

In loving memory of Terry Kent Neal, born on March 16, 1944, and departed on January 25, 2024. We reflect on a full life filled with innovation, resilience, love, and an extraordinary tapestry of relationships.

A memorial visitation will be held Saturday, February 3, 2024 from 2-4 p.m. at the Merritt Funeral Home, Mendota. Memorials may be directed to the Compton Fire Department and E.M.S. Online condolences may be left at www.merrittfh.com

He was preceded in death by his parents, Fountain and Esta, and his beloved daughter Wanda Neal Burton.

He is survived by his partner Kristyne (Dolan) Neal; ex-wife Marian, sons Adam (Karla Vilchez), Laen (Katie McConville), his brothers Dennis (Carolyn), Mike, David (Lizzie), grandchildren Seneca (Schneider), Benjamin, Emma, and Anna (Neal), and great-granddaughters Ivy (Wagner), Athena (Neal), along with many nieces and nephews.

A steward in the Agricultural Industry, Terry dedicated his lifelong career to facilitating the success of many farmers through his knowledge of agricultural chemicals, products, and methods. Alongside his brother Dennis, he invented and manufactured agricultural equipment that was successfully sold by Dennis. Terry had patents for agricultural equipment that helped shape the landscape of farming, through ingenuity and industriousness.

Terry's lifelong love for music was deeply ingrained. He proudly took on the role of official roadie and was the biggest supporter for his brother Dave, and sister-in-law Lizzi's band. He endlessly supported Adam through music school, countless performances, and shared a special musical bond with his grandson, Benjamin.

Terry found tremendous joy in the outdoors, and the Neal Timber. His passions included creatively solving electrical, mechanical, and construction problems, along with designing electric bicycles, restoring VW kit cars, and he loved his last large project helping Laen and Katie build their camping van. These passions showcased his love for mechanical intricacies and challenges. All his years completing projects leave behind a legacy of craftsmanship, knowledge, and precision.

Through years and multiple battles with cancer, Kristyne was by his side providing secure direction, continued support, and loving comfort. During his final days he was surrounded by his devoted family.

Terry Neal's life was filled with innovation, passion, genius, innate creativity, and familial love. May his spirit continue to inspire us and be remembered with fondness by all who were fortunate enough to know him.
