Thomas L. Smith, 59, of LaMoille, passed away January 9, 2021 at St. Margaret's Hospital, Spring Valley.

Funeral services will be held Friday, January 15, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. in the Merritt Funeral Home, Mendota with burial to follow at Prairie Repose Cemetery, Dover. Visitation will be Thursday from 4-7 p.m. in the funeral home. Mask wearing is required and appreciated.

Thomas was born June 6, 1961 in Mendota to Charles and Margaret (Newton) Smith.

Thomas was a laborer in the union for many years. He finished his career at Del Monte before his health worsened. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing and trapping. He was always up for any new adventures. His pride and joy were his children and grandchildren. In the last days of his life he gave his heart to the Lord Jesus.

He is survived by his wife Karen Smith of LaMoille; three sons, Robert (Stacy) Smith of Ladysmith, Wisconsin, Jesse (Shandar) Smith of LaMoille and Corey Winchel of Cape Girardeau, Missouri; three daughters April (Nathan Schultz) Smith of Ladysmith, WI., Dakota (Joseph) Foster of Cape Girardeau, MO., and Jessie (Zac) Koesler of Cherry; three brothers Samuel (Mary) Smith of LaMoille, Ronald (Stephanie) Smith of Cherry and Carl (Sally) Smith of Florida; sister Linda Smith of LaMoille; 24 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
