Obituary

Vade O. Wehmeyer, 98, of Mendota died January 6, 2018 in the Mendota  Lutheran Home.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday in the Merritt Funeral Home, Mendota with Rev. Janet Lepp officiating. Burial will be at a later date in Restland Cemetery, Mendota. Visitation from 9:30 a.m. to time of services on Saturday in the funeral home.

Vade was born March 14, 1919 in Lanark to Cloyd and Vera (Northey) Wehmeyer. He married Eloise Balcar who preceded in January of 1990. He later married Yvonne Durand who died in September of 1994.

He was a graduate of Lanark High School. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Mendota Masonic Lodge #176, and Tebala Shrine. He served with the United States Army Air Corp during World War II. He owned and operated the Mendota Sales Barn and also Wehmeyer Auctioneering and was a salesman for Chief Buildings.

He is survived by one son, Fred "Fritz" (Mary) Wehmeyer of DeKalb; one daughter, Susan (Tim) Ramsey of Redmond, OR; four grandchildren Jeffrey Wehmeyer, Laura Bradt, Gretchen Collins and Jennifer Kenney, eight great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.

He was preceded by one son, Joe, one sister and one brother.
