Valaria J. Zimmerman, 90, of Mendota died May 29, 2012, in Mendota Lutheran Home. Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Immanuel Lutheran Church of Compton with the Rev. Jamie Wallace officiating. Burial will be at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation is one hour prior to services Saturday in the church. Merritt Funeral Home, Mendota provided the arrangements. She was born Oct. 11, 1921, in Lee Center Township to John and Sadie (Hoerner) Mahaffey. She married Urban Zimmerman on Dec. 7, 1940, in Immanuel Lutheran Church of Compton. She graduated from Mendota High School in 1938. She was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church of Compton where she taught Sunday school. She was a 4-H leader and member of Home Extension. She was interested in painting, antiques and needlework. She is survived by one son, Gerald (Karen) Zimmerman of Menomonie, Wis.; two grandchildren, Kathryn (Steven Richter) Zimmerman and Robert (Tasha Larson) Zimmerman; three greatgrandchildren; and two brothers, John "Bud" Mahaffey of LaMoille and Donald (Nancy) Mahaffey of Peru. She was preceded in death by her husband in April 1993, one brother, Noah, and one sister, Velva. Memorials may be directed to Immanuel Lutheran Church of Compton.
