Verda Y. Tieman, 86, of Mendota Lutheran Home, died Sept. 9, 2007, in the home. Services will be at noon Wednesday in Merritt Funeral Home, Mendota, with the Rev. Gale Brandner officiating. Burial will be at Restland Memorial Gardens. Visitation is one hour prior to services Wednesday in the funeral home. She was born April 11, 1921, in Mendota to Roy and Myrtle (Beetz) Yenerich. She was a graduate of Mendota High School and La Salle- Peru-Oglesby Junior College and worked as a teacher?s aide for the Mendota elementary schools. Mrs. Tieman was a member of Zion United Methodist Church and a member and volunteer with Mendota Community Hospital?s Auxiliary. She is survived by one son, J. Randy (Peggy) Tieman of Wilmette; one daughter, Sherry (James) Dagley of Elmhurst; three grandchildren; nieces and nephews; and the father of her children, Jack Tieman of Mendota. She was preceded in death by two brothers and her aunt, Ivy Ultch, who helped raise her. Memorials may be directed to Mendota Lutheran Home.
