Obituary
Vicki S. Engels, 64, of West Brooklyn died July 27, 2015, in her residence.
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Merritt Funeral Home, Mendota with the Rev. Ronald Margherio officiating. Burial of ashes will be at Restland Cemetery, Mendota.
Visitation is 4-7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
She was born April 7, 1951, in Sterling to Stuart and Etta Mae (Hopps) Althaus. She married Bernard "Bernie" Engels on April 16, 1982, in Ottawa.
She was a 1969 graduate of Mendota High School and attended Illinois Valley Community College. She was employed by Mendota High School as a paraprofessional for the past 15 years.
She is survived by her husband; four sons, Eric (Sara) Engels of Tonica, Christian (JoAnna) Engels of Mendota, Michael (Candace) Campeggio of Dunlap and Carter (Sidney) Engels of Mendota; three daughters; Robin (Michael) Dean of Ottawa, Beth (Erik) Bodmer of West Brooklyn and Candy Tillman of Mendota; 17 grandchildren, Ava, Eve, Alyssa, Bailey, Leo, Michael, Callie, Cami, Meghan, Joe, Aren, Madelyn, Natalie, Teghan, Marly, Lex and Finley; one brother, Keith Althaus of Mendota; two sisters; Kaye Lindberg of Michigan and Debra (Peter) Drypolcher of Rogers Park.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one daughter, Stephanie.
Memorials may be directed to Holy Cross School, Mendota or St. Bede Academy.
