Vida A. Longbein, 94, of Mendota died Feb. 3, 2008, in Mendota Community Hospital. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in Merritt Funeral Home, Mendota, with the Rev. Gale Brandner officiating. Burial will be at Restland Cemetery, Mendota. Visitation is 9 a.m. until the time of services Thursday in the funeral home. She was born May 13, 1913, in Princeton to Flint and Sudie (Peper) Bell. She married John Longbein on Dec. 21, 1932. She was a member of Zion United Methodist Church in Mendota and was employed by Del Monte in Mendota, Carps department store, Ace Hardware and Heritage Manor Nursing Home, all in Mendota before her retirement. She is survived by a daughter, Nancy (Richard) Johnson of Kewanee; nine grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; three stepgreat-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Virginia Bauer of Mendota; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1972; one daughter, Doris Hiatt; one son, Jerry; and one brother. Memorials may be directed to St. Jude?s Children?s Hospital.
