Viola M. Klein, 92, of 701 Meadowview Drive, Mendota died Dec. 31, 2009, in Mendota Community Hospital. Mass of Christian burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday in Holy Cross Church, Mendota. The Rev. Gary Blake will officiate. Burial will be at Holy Cross Cemetery. Visitation will be 2-5 p.m. Sunday in Merritt Funeral Home, Mendota. She was born Jan. 3, 1917, in Ottsville to William and Minnie (Frey) Fenwick. She married Raymond Klein on Jan. 25, 1939, in Peterstown. Mrs. Klein farmed with her husband for 20 years. From 1959-1972, they owned Ray and Vi's Tap in Mendota. She was later employed by Caron Yarn and Motor Wheel Corp., both in Mendota. She was a charter member of Catholic Knights of America. She was a member of Holy Cross Church and Navy Mothers. Survivors include two sons, Kenneth (Bernice) Klein of Battle Creek, Mich., and Donald (Sandra) Klein of Clarksville, Tenn.; three daughters, Wilma Stillwell of Earlville, Sharon Roth of Aurora and Sandra (Fred) Edwards of Valparaiso, Ind.; 12 grandchildren; one stepgrandchild; 11 great-grandchildren; and three stepgreatgrandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband in May 1984; four sisters; one brother; and one grandson. Memorials may be directed to Holy Cross School, Mendota Area Senior Services or the donor's choice.
