Virginia M. Bauer, 89, of Mendota died Dec. 14, 2010, in Mendota Community Hospital. Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Merritt Funeral Home, Mendota, with the Rev. Glenn Stewart officiating. Burial will be at Restland Cemetery, Mendota. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. She was born Dec. 23, 1920, in Triumph to Martin Flint and Sudie (Pepper) Bell. She married Gilbert Bauer on Feb. 4, 1945, in Junction City, Kan. She was a member of Zion United Methodist Church in Mendota and Women of the Moose. She worked in food service at Mendota Lutheran Home, Mendota, before retiring. She is survived by one daughter, Kathy (Bill) Knowlton of LaMoille; three sons, Gary (Cathy) Bauer of Oregon, Warren (Sandy) Bauer of Mendota and George Bauer of West Brooklyn; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gilbert, on April 18, 1988; one brother and one sister. Memorials may be directed to Mendota Area Senior Services.
