Virginia M. Dana, 95, of
Mendota died May 31, 2013, in
Mendota Lutheran Home.
Graveside services will be
at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Waltham
Cemetery.
A memorial service has been
tentatively scheduled for July
20 in First United Methodist
Church, Mendota. Merritt
Funeral Home, Mendota is
providing
the arrangements.
She was
born Jan.
12, 1918,
in Waltham
Township
to Robert
and Mabelle
(Crane)
Stevenson.
She married
Eldridge Dana on Aug. 4, 1937.
Virginia was employed by
Del Monte and Hart-Carter,
both in Mendota for more than
25 years. She enjoyed flower
gardening and her cats. The
children she cared for were
always very important to her.
She is survived by two daughters,
Kandice Zolper and Nancy
(Gary) Wulf, both of Mendota;
two sons, Charles (Beth) Dana
of Roscoe and Richard Dana of
Rockford; 10 grandchildren; six
great-grandchildren; two brothers,
Warren (Ruth) Stevenson
of Mendota and Glenn
(Dorothy) Stevenson of Utica;
three sisters, Katherine Calkins
of Deer Park Township, Mabel
Anne Finley of Peru and Carol
Edgcomb of Spring Valley; and
nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by
her husband, Eldridge on Nov.
4, 1963; two daughters, Sandra
and Betty; one granddaughter,
Lori Dana; four brothers and
three sisters.
