Virginia L. Hampton, 95, of Mendota died March 21, 2017, in Prairie Crossing Center, Shabbona.

Funeral services will be at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday in Merritt Funeral Home, Mendota. Burial will be at Restland Cemetery, Mendota.

Visitation will be 10 a.m. until time of services Tuesday in the funeral home.

Virginia was born Nov. 1, 1921, to Arthur and Edith (Williams) Trail. She married Charles Hampton. He preceded her in death in 1967.

She was employed by Mendota Community Hospital and also Westclox.

She is survived by one daughter, LuAnn (Don) Coan of Sublette; four sons, John Hampton of Mendota, Joe Hampton of Rensselaer, Ind., Doug (Shelley) Hampton of LaMoille and Paul (Sandy) Hampton of Mendota; 27 grandchildren, 51 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two sons, Jim and Carman; two grandsons, Douglas and Juan; one granddaughter, Brenda; two great grandsons and one sister.
