Mendota.
Services will be at 11 a.m.
Monday in Merritt Funeral
Home, Mendota. The Rev.
Howard Smith will officiate.
Burial will be at Waltham
Cemetery with military rites
by VFW Post 4079.
Visitation will be 2-4 p.m.
Sunday in the funeral home.
Mr. Stevenson was born
July 20, 1926, in La Salle to
Robert and Mabelle (Crane)
Stevenson. He married Ruth
McLaughlin on July 10, 1948,
in Troy Grove.
He served in the U.S. Navy
during World War II in the
Pacific Theater of Operations.
He was a grain and livestock
farmer for 22 years in
Wisconsin and the remaining
time in Illinois.
Survivors are his wife,
Ruth of Mendota; two sons,
Richard (Sue) Stevenson
of Salem, Wis., and David
(Lois) Stevenson of Zumbro
Falls, Minn.; two daughters,
Jill (David) Fralick of Naples,
Fla., and Ronda Cowgill of
Dayton, Ohio; 12 grandchildren;
18 great-grandchildren;
one brother, Glenn (Dorothy)
Stevenson of Waltham
Township; and three sisters,
Kathryn Calkins of Deer
Park, Mabel Anne Finley of
Peru and Carol Edgcomb of
Spring Valley.
He was preceded in death
by one son, Dale; a son in
infancy; and four brothers and
four sisters.
Memorials may be directed
to St. Jude Children's
Hospital or Mendota Area
Senior Services.
