Obituary

Wayne Harvey
Buettner, 83, of
Kings, Ill., and known as
"Jim" by his family, died
Aug. 11, 2015, in Swedish-
American Hospital, Rockford.
Funeral services will be at
11 a.m. Saturday in Merritt
Funeral Home, Mendota
with chaplain Norm Shirk
officiating. Burial will be at
Restland Cemetery, Mendota.
Visitation will be from
9:30 a.m. until services Saturday
in the funeral home.
He was born Feb. 2, 1932,
in Angier Hospital, Sublette
to Raymond and Edna
(Geuther) Buettner. He married
Linda Kidd on July 10,
1957, in Prairie Center.
He graduated from Mendota
High School and
served in the U.S. Army
from 1953-1955 while stationed
at Fort Lewis, Wash.
He and his wife farmed
for more than 40 years in
Earlville and Kings areas.
He was a member of the
Elim Reformed Church,
Kings and served on the
consistory as both an elder
and deacon.
He enjoyed miniature
woodworking and gardening.
He is survived by his wife;
one daughter, Lee Ann
(Stephen) Downie of
Burleson, Texas; one grandson,
Cameron Wayne
Downie of Burleson; two
sisters, Lois Faber and
Geraldine Sauer, both of
Mendota; and several nieces
and nephews.
He was preceded in death
by three brothers, Ralph,
Earl and Clayton; and an infant
son, Randy W. Buettner.

to Mendota Area

Hospice and Home of Oregon,
Ill.
