Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Friday, October 19th in the First United Methodist Church, Mendota with Rev. Mary Bohall officiating. Burial will be at Restland Cemetery, Mendota. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m., Thursday, October 18th in the church. The Merritt Funeral Home, Mendota is handling the arrangements.
Wesley was born December 6, 1928 in Clarion Twp. to Richard and Ella (Stamberger) Hoffman. He married Loretta Botts on December 4, 1960 in the First United Methodist Church and had been married for 57 years.
Wesley attended country school by the Arlington blacktop, LaMoille Grade School and graduated from LaMoille High School. He served with the U.S. Army in the 12th Field Hospital unit. He began farming and farmed until 1995. He served on the Clarion Twp. Board as a trustee and clerk for several years. He also served on the Mendota, Troy Grove,and Clarion Farmers Insurance Co. for 40 years until 1999. He was a member of Elks Lodge 1212.
He is survived by his wife, Loretta of LaMoille; three daughters, Rhonda (Patrick) Myers of Mendota, Karen (Lanzy) Baker of Pawnee, and Susan Hoffman of Mendota; one son, Ronald (Paula) Hoffman of Noblesville, IN; 6 grandchildren, Cory (Emily) Hoffman, Brianna (Murry) Dixon, Hailey Myers, Madison Myers, Austin Baker, and Allison Baker; 1 great-grandson, Vincent Dixon; several nieces and nephews also survive.
He was preceded by two sisters, Marion Humphrey and Eileen Alshouse.
Memorials may be directed to the First United Methodist Church, Mendota or the donor's choice.
