William "Bill" Hamburg, 89, of Mendota died Oct. 18, 2016, in OSF St. Paul Medical Center, Mendota.
A Mass of Christian burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday in Holy Cross Church, Mendota with the Rev. Peter Pilon officiating. Burial will be at Holy Cross Cemetery, Mendota with military rites by Mendota VFW Post 4079.
Visitation will be 2-4 p.m. Sunday in Merritt Funeral Home, Mendota.
Bill was born Oct. 13, 1927, in Dixon to Merle and Anna (Brady) Hamburg. He married Della Brown on April 27, 1957, in Holy Cross Church.
He was a member of Holy Cross Church. He was a graduate of Mendota High School.
He served with the U.S. Army during World War II and was a member of Mendota VFW Post 4079. Bill was employed by Wayside Press, Mendota for 38 years and owned and operated Bill's Bike Shop for 43 years. He was a member of Mendota Moose Lodge and a former junior governor of the lodge.
He is survived by his wife, Della of Mendota; one daughter, Linda (Robert) Swanson of Mendota; one grandson, Brandon (Ashley) Swanson of Peru; and one great-granddaughter, Ellen.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Eddie; and one sister, Mary Karl.
Memorials may be directed to the Alzheimers Association or Holy Cross School.
