Derek Horner is a devoted funeral director with deep roots in the family business. Since 2006, Derek has been an integral part of Unger Horner Funeral Home in Rochelle, Illinois, continuing the family legacy. He graduated from Eastern Illinois University with a degree in Education and then earned his degree in funeral directing and embalming from Worsham College of Mortuary Science. In June 2024, Derek and his brother Chad Horner acquired Merritt Funeral Home in Mendota, Illinois, where Derek now focuses a majority his efforts. Family life is very important to Derek, and he loves spending quality time with his three children, cheering them on in their sports and activities.
